My mediterranean blue embroidery is finished, and the whole design is complete!
This is the second sea turtle I've made, it's a fairly straight forward pattern but that doesn't mean it's a walk in the park. I'm still ironing out the kinks, but I still think it's a really appealing design. Nothing beats the combination of hot orange and cool blue, particularly for a marine themed toy. It makes me think of warm beach lagoons, and coral teeming with clown fish. Maybe I'm channeling my desperation for a beach holiday... why would I do that? Can't think why...
When it came to picking fabrics for the shell, I have a lot of gorgeous shades of blue - turquoise, teal, sapphire. The embroidery took those colours and took them to the next level, adding swirls and textures of stitching. Adding the beads gave it another little edge, little glinting jewels hiding away inside the green.
Peek a boo, I see you looking.
